Hey everyone, lemmingllama here. I’m delighted today to discuss large reworks to an old system coming in the 7.20 update. This week we’ll be talking about some of the larger reworks around this system, and next week we’ll discuss some new additions to the system and surrounding changes associated to it. Let’s get into it!
Perks have been part of Tap Titans 2 since the game originally released, and we’ve had essentially the same perks since the game first launched. Over the years, we’ve added perk stacking to help augment those perks further. With the 7.20 update, we’re going to add several new perks, and change the perk system to help support that larger selection.
First off, perks will be selectable. Similar to the spell selection panel, you’ll be able to choose six perks that you have unlocked, and then use those perks during your prestiges. You can swap anytime to new perks, but swapping perks will cancel all perks you have active, so it’s recommended to swap after your currently active perks have expired.
Perks now will also be unlocked by reaching certain max stages. Players will start with a base number of perks, but then will unlock many of the new perks as you play. This can help ensure that perks themed towards more advanced damage and gold sources will be unlocked at the appropriate times. For players who have already passed these stages before the update, you’ll have the perks available after the server maintenance for the update has finished.
Lastly, we are transitioning perk rewards from giving a random perk to Perk Tickets. A Perk Ticket can be used for any perk rather than the old perk rewards that had to be a specific perk. You will still be able to activate perks with diamonds as well if you run out of perk tickets. For any perks you already have banked, we’ll transition them over to Perk Tickets during the server maintenance for the update at a 1:1 ratio.
Next week we’ll delve into the new perks being added and the other supporting systems around the new perk system. That being said, we will likely be looking into implementing other new perks in the future.
